Information for referrers.
Thank you for considering my services for your patient. Here is a summary of my services:
I work with individual adults 18+.
Sessions are available face-to-face and/or via Telehealth.
I work with those who present with chronic symptoms of / pre-existing diagnoses of / difficulties with:
trauma / stressor related disorders, including early childhood trauma
anxiety disorders
features of borderline personality disorder
difficulties in relationships - historical or current.
My services are particularly well suited for patients who have experienced their difficulties over a long period of time, who may have worked with other therapists in the past, who are open to a longer term approach to work on the underlying factors contributing to their current symptoms, and who are ready and able to commit to ongoing therapy.
I am an independently practicing clinician; as such, my services are not appropriate for those:
with very severe symptoms who require after-hours support or crisis management
who present with difficulties that may pose a safety threat (e.g., displays of aggression)
who have difficulty maintaining appropriate boundaries in professional relationships
who are unable to commit to and attend a dedicated timeslot on an ongoing basis
in acute distress, due to my inability to provide reactive support as-needed.
I accept patients privately, as well as Mental Health Treatment Plan referrals, where a gap payment is payable by the client.
I do not provide a bulk-billing or reduced cost service.
I am not currently accepting referrals for WorkCover, NDIS, or DVA, and do not accept Eating Disorder Plans or Chronic Disease Management Plans.
My preferred therapeutic approach is the evidence-based therapy of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR Therapy). I also draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and elements of Schema Therapy in my practice.
Referrals can be sent through to Renee Brown via Medical Objects or via fax: (07) 3567 9440. You can expect to receive a referral acceptance letter from me following my first session with a new patient or a referral closure letter if I have been unsuccessful in accepting a referred patient to my services; review letters following the last session of a referral; updates for shared patients who have moved to private payments following exhaustion of their Medicare rebates, and; a discharge letter following completion of therapy.
